“I ran for public office in 2018 and 2020 because I could not stand on the sidelines as our healthcare system was perpetually threatened by efforts to dismantle and further weaken it. Millions of Americans have been continually braced with the fear that they are one medical emergency away from bankruptcy. Furthermore, Indigenous, African American, and Latino communities all experience significant disparities in access to healthcare, quality of healthcare rendered, as well as healthcare outcomes. The COVID-19 pandemic brought many of these disparities into sharp focus. The only way to address this is to elect leaders to Congress who commit to prioritizing healthcare policy that proposes solutions to these disparities, and who recognize the intersection of healthcare with education, economic, environmental, criminal justice, and social justice policies. We are focused on supporting candidates who make that commitment and consistently work towards the goals of equitable healthcare for all.”

Our nation’s healthcare system is broken, and for far too long, it has left many Americans underserved or fully out of the system. Healthcare is a right. The U.S. is the only industrialized nation in the world that does not ensure healthcare for all of its citizens. Though progress has been made since the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010, we have much work to do. It is imperative we elect leaders who accept and embrace the responsibility to protect our fellow Americans, keep them healthy, and establish a healthcare system that provides quality, affordable care for all. This translates to evidence-based policies which prioritize equity as well as prevention and public health.
